I am a former competitive athlete (and microbiology major) who did a major pivot to tend to a music career. I came to design from music. The first time I ever thought about my experience as a user was when I would open my parents' vinyls and (eventually) CD's to look through the liner notes. Each album had its own world and experience contained within the same specs. You could feel the world before ever hearing it. 

Flash waaaay forward-- I was an independent touring musician who was constantly designing promo materials, merchandise, album art, stage plots, light designs, and technical schematics. I knew it was what I wanted to study. In my design program, I learned more about video, technical production, and digital products.

Multimedia design opened a new realm for me. My physicality never left me and I eventually found my way among the arts into dance through a number of collaborations. Again, my ideas about creativity and process expanded. As a performer, my interests shifted into installed/immersive/durational/experiential work. My deep sense of process led me to User Experience projects, which I believe to be the best use of my talents and multidisciplinary literacy.
